Apple Inc. celebrating its 40th birthday this year, is stated to release its next version of iPhone (not until the fall of 2016) apart from its one billion Apple devices in use around the world. This new version sequentially would be designated as iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s. Apple is still working on how it will look like:
- Design similar to the design of iPhone 6s
- General shape would be similar to that of iPhone 6s but the camera would protrude less
- Antenna bands across the back of the device have been removed, but are expected to remain at the top, bottom, and sides of the iPhone
- Apple is aiming to make the iPhone 7 thinner, with the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack and the implementation of a thinner Lightning port
- One of the upgraded features include the increase of battery size to 1,735 mAh and 2,810 mAh compared to iPhone 6 (1,715 mAh) and iPhone 6s (2,750 mAh) respectively
With the rise of apps in our daily lives and even with better battery and power management systems, our iPhone battery drains out within 24 hrs managing all our apps. With the enhancement of technology for our convenience, charging our iPhones on the go without the need of wires would be mind boggling. Wireless Charging technology envisages the convenience of charging our iPhones wirelessly. Wireless charging, also known as inductive charging is a way to charge your smartphone by placing it on a wireless charging device known as transmitter. Qi Wireless Charging Technology is one of the standards followed widely in the field of wireless charging.
With wireless charging, the possibility of wear and tear on the socket of the device due to the frequent plugging and unplugging of the charger is reduced to a great extent. If our iPhone compatible charger is not available then the battery just drains out causing a serious concern when at workplace or leisure, etc. The wireless transmitter is universal, depending upon the type of standard followed, to an iOS device or an android.
Analysts believe that Apple Inc. will launch iPhone 8 in 2017 which will be wireless charging enabled. This illustrates that the wireless charging is here to stay and iPhone users prefer wireless charging.
If the smartphone is not wireless charging enabled, then an accessory is needed to accomplish wireless charging. iPhone doesn’t have in-built wireless charging and thus requires an accessory like a case or sleeve which when placed along with iPhone, on the transmitter, wireless charging is accomplished.
PowerSquare, an innovative Power Electronics start-up, has developed a Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Pad branded as TANGO that can handle up to 10 watts of power to charge two I-Phones wirelessly at the same time. TANGO is the world’s first position-free multi device wireless charging pad that uses the Adaptive Position Free technology (patent pending) to enable seamless charging of multiple devices wirelessly. PowerSquare has also developed iPhone 6 Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Case along with TANGO thereby enabling two I-Phone 6/6S to be charged wirelessly at the same time. As seen in Figure 1, you can charge your iPhone the old fashioned way with the micro-USB port.
